Course Objectives The primary aim of this course is to acquire the basic skills of sight interpreting as an introduction to simultaneous and consecutive interpretation.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • apply basic reading and text analysis skills to interpreting;
  • apply the oral skills required for sight interpreting such as paraphrasing, expanding, condensing, parsing/chunking;
  • sight interpret from English into Turkish and Turkish into English;
  • conduct preparation and terminology study in interpreting practices;
  • utilize the specialized terminology on various subjects in interpreting English and Turkish texts.
Course Description In this course, students will develop their skills in interpreting written text. While students develop these skills through various texts by using such strategies as paraphrasing, expanding, condensing and parsing/chunking, they undertake terminology work in various topics.
