Course Objectives This course aims to improve students’ speaking skills to the utmost level, and to make fluent and clear speeches in both languages.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • give informative and persuasive speeches;
  • communicate at a nativelike proficiency level in English;
  • speak Turkish very fluently with high oratory skills;
  • recognize field-specific vocabulary;
  • follow speeches and audiovisual materials as an active listener;
  • identify different accents and dialects.
Course Description In this course, the main focus will be on student presentations and in-class discussions. Discussions on theory and activities aiming at improving students’ speaking skills and interpersonal communication skills both in English and Turkish through informative and persuasive speeches and discussion on different subject fields, will constitute the core of the course. In addition, translation activities will be applied to the students specialized in oral translation.
