GEN-Y STORIES
Generation Y transferred their imagination to paper, their stories became a book. 16 students, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Derya Duman, Lecturer, IUE Department of English Translation and Interpreting, wrote stories as part of “Creative Writing” course, and brought their stories together in a book titled, “Y Kuşağı’ndan Öyküler (Gen-Y Stories)”. Students relayed topics like hope, love, wisdom, and doubts from the perspective of their generation. Young authors’ book, which reflects their determinism and strong character in the stories, met with the readers via Kafekültür Publications.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Duman, who also edited the book, indicated that young people today, also known as the generation Y, were very creative and experienced differences. Duman said, “Generation Y use and experience their imaginations fully in their lives. They experience differences and awareness daily. They follow daily life closely. The stories fall into a surprising nature in terms of young authors relaying time, space, social layers, and mentalities. The young authors wrote about what sounds meaningful to them most. There are lots of stories about hope, love, wisdom, and doubts in the book”.
“Creative Writing” course students Ayşegül Öden, Barış Sadıç, Bilge Aydilek, Burak Sezen, Ceren Uğur, Elif Gümüşkesen, Elifcan Şanlı, Ezgi Nur Kaplan, Ezgi Yağmur Kırlangıç, Feryal Polat, İlke Hazer, Kuzey Türkel, Özgün Kürüm, Özlen Durmazer, Selin Merve Kırşan, and Serra Sokol took part in “Gen-Y Stories” titled book with their creative stories.
