DMP FAQ
1) What is a Double Major Program?
A Double Major is a program that allows you to get a second diploma by studying in one department while studying in another department and fulfilling all the requirements of that department.
2) What should my CGPA be to apply for a Double Major Program?
Your CGPA must be at least 3.00 to apply for a Double Major Program
3) Are there any success ranking requirements to apply for a Double Major Program?
You must be in the top 20% of the class ranking in the department you are studying to be eligible for a Double Major Program.
If, for example, you want to do double major in Engineering, Law, or Architecture, you must also meet the success ranking requirement of Council of Higher Education (YOK).
4) When and where can I apply for the Double Major Program?
You must be at the beginning of your 2nd year earliest to apply to Double Major Program.
You must be at the beginning of your 3rd year latest to apply to Double Major Program.

5) Do I have to complete any credits to apply for the Double Major Program?
To be eligible for a Double Major Program, you must take and successfully pass courses with at least 50 ECTS at the end of the spring semester of first year, and with at least 110 ECTS at the end of the spring semester of second year.
Those, who will apply in the interim period, must take, and successfully pass courses with at least 75 ECTS at the end of the fall semester of second year, and with at least 135 ECTS at the end of the fall semester of third year.
6) Who do I need to talk to about the courses I will take in the Double Major Program?
You have Double Major Program Coordinators in your departments. You can get information from the coordinators about the courses you will take in the department where you will be doing a Double Major, the execution of the program, and the requirements for graduation.
7) Am I going to take all the courses of the department that I want to do a double major in?
You must take all courses except the common-equivalent courses between the department you are studying and the department you will be doing a Double Major at. Courses taken in the Double Major Program cannot be less than 75 ECTS credits in total. Common-equivalent courses are determined by the "Double Major ProgramCoordinator". Therefore, before applying to the program or after being admitted, you should meet with your DMP Coordinator.
8) Do the courses I took in my Double Major Program and failed affect my major program?
Since the double major transcripts are issued separately, the grades of the courses you take do not affect your major program.
9) Do I pay additional fees for the Double Major Program?
No additional fees are charged for a Double Major Program as long as your major education continues.
10) Is my scholarship/discount also valid for the Double Major Program?
Scholarships/discounts continue for 7 years. Even if you graduate from a major program, your scholarship continues for a Double Major Program within these periods.
11) Can I defer registration in the Double Major Program?
You can request to be considered on leave during the period for reasons such as intensive course load, course overlap, etc. For this, you need to apply to the faculty secretariat of the department you are doing Double Major at.
12) In how many years do I have to complete the Double Major Program?
The maximum education period of the Double Major program is 7 years, assuming the year / semester you started the Double Major is considered as the beginning.
13) Can I disenroll from the Double Major Program?
Students can disenroll from Double Major Program at any time. Upon the request of students who disenrolled from a Double Major Program and the approval of their advisor, the courses that they succeeded in this program are transferred to the major (NI) transcript without being included in the GPA.
14) Can I transfer from the Double Major Program to the Minor Program?
You can transfer to Minor Program on the condition that a Minor Program is available in the respective field, and you meet the admission requirements. In this case, same courses taken in DMP, which are in Minor Program instruction plan, are transferred to Minor Program transcript.
15) In what cases will I be dismissed from Double Major Program?
If you do not renew registration for two consecutive semesters without being granted a leave of absence in Double Major Program, you will be dismissed.
If you fall below the GPA you need to obtain for the second time while continuing with the Double Major, you will be dismissed from the Double Major program.

16) Can I transfer the courses I took in Double Major Program to my major program when I am dismissed from them?
Upon the request of the students who disenrolled from a Double Major Program and the approval of their advisor, the courses that they succeeded in this program are transferred to the major (NI) transcript without being included in the GPA.
17) What is the graduation requirement for Double Major Program?
To graduate from a Double Major Program; it is required to have taken at least 240 ECTS courses, to succeed in all courses and to have a GPA of at least 2.72.
A Double Major diploma is not awarded before obtaining the right to graduate from the major program.
