Frequently Asked Questions - Minor Program

 

1.    What is a Minor Program?

 

A Minor Program is a program that allows you to take a limited number of courses in another field and get a certificate in that field while you are studying in one department.

 

2.     What should my CGPA be to apply for the Minor Program?

 

Your CGPA must be at least 2.50 to apply for a Minor Program.




 

3.     When and where can I apply for the Minor Program?

 

You must be at the beginning of your 2nd year earliest to apply to Minor Program. You can apply for the Minor Program in the interim period of your 3rd year.

 

4.     Do I have to complete any credits to apply for the Minor Program?

 

To be eligible for a Minor Program, you must take and successfully pass courses with at least 50 ECTS at

the end of the spring semester of first year, and with at least 110 ECTS at the end of the spring semester of second year. Those, who will apply in the interim period, must take, and successfully pass courses with at least 75 ECTS at the end of the fall semester of second year, and with at least 135 ECTS at the end of the fall semester of third year.

5.     Who do I need to talk to about the courses I will take in the Minor Program? 

You have Minor Program Coordinators in your departments. You can get information from the coordinators about the courses you will take in the department where you will be doing a Minor, the execution of the program, and the requirements for graduation.

 

6.      Do the courses I took in my Minor Program and failed affect my major program?

Since the minor transcripts are issued separately, the grades of the courses you take do not affect your major program.

7.     Do I pay additional fees for the Double Major Program?

No additional fees are charged for a Minor Program as long as your major education continues.

 

8.    Is my scholarship/discount also valid for the Minor Program?

 

Scholarships/discounts continue for 7 years. Even if you graduate from a major program, your scholarship continues for a Minor Program within these periods.

9.     Can I defer registration in the Double Major Program?

You can request to be considered on leave during the period for reasons such as intensive course load, course overlap, etc. For this, you need to apply to the faculty secretariat of the department you are doing Minor at.

 

10.    In how many years do I have to complete the Minor Program?

 

In the Minor program, the program must be completed with a maximum of two semesters of additional time

after graduating from the major program.

 

11.   Can I disenroll from the Minor Program?

 

Students can disenroll from Minor Program at any time. Upon the request of students who disenrolled from a Minor Program and the approval of their advisor, the courses that they succeeded in this program are transferred to the major (NI) transcript without being included in the GPA.

 

12.   Can I transfer from Double Major Program to Minor Program?

 

You can transfer to Minor Program on the condition that a Minor Program is available in the respective field, and you meet the admission requirements. In this case, same courses taken in DMP, which are in Minor Program instruction plan, are transferred to Minor Program transcript.

 

13.   In what cases will I be dismissed from the Minor Program?

 

If you do not renew registration for two consecutive semesters without being granted a leave of absence in Minor Program, you will be dismissed. In the minor program, if your GPA in the major program falls below 2.29, you will be dismissed from the Minor Program. 14.   Can I transfer the courses I took in the Minor Program to my major program when I am dismissed from them?

 

Upon the request of the students who disenrolled from a Minor Program and the approval of their advisor, the courses that they succeeded in this program are transferred to the major (NI) transcript without being included in the GPA.

 

15.   What is the graduation requirement for the Minor Program?

 

In the minor program, it is required to succeed in all courses and to have a GPA of at least 2.00. A Minor certificate is not awarded before obtaining the right to graduate from the major program.
