Course Objectives The primary objective of the course is to acquire knowledge of the various language characteristics of social sciences and their implications for translation (in terms of cultural differences, content, word choice, text function, syntactic patterns, information structure etc.) and terminology/terminography.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • translate according to the textual function;
  • apply spelling and punctuation rules in both languages;
  • use a translation method taking into account lexical and syntactic features;
  • use field-specific terminology in social sciences;
  • apply gist translation for social sciences texts.
Course Description This course is designed to be taught in practice format. The various translation strategies will be discussed regarding the homeworks given during the course.
