Course Objectives The aim of this course is to develop a diplomatic language and to translate diplomatic texts both in writing and verbally following diplomatic conventions.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • write diplomatic correspondence on congratulation, condolence and invitation;
  • write a message in reply for diplomatic correspondence on congratulation, consolation and invitation;
  • transfer semantic and grammatical structure unique to field of diplomatic texts to translation act;
  • create a terminology unique to diplomacy;
  • explain the features of Turkish and English diplomatic languages.
Course Description This course will shortly tell what diplomatic translation/interpretation requires, and the information provided in lectures will be reinforced through the exercises.
