A FIRST TIME PROJECT IN TURKEY RECEIVED THE SUPPORT OF TUBITAK

Prof. Dr. Lütfiye Oktar, Department Head of English Translation and Interpreting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neslihan Kansu Yetkiner, and Research Asst. Murat Özgen received the most prestigious support of Turkey for their, "A Systemic Functional Grammar Model for Explicitation in Interpreting Studies with Respect to Three Parameters: Mode of Interpreting, Directionality and Text Type " themed project.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yetkiner, the Project Coordinator, stated that the project, based on different modes of interpreting, directionality, and text type parameters, was carried out with participation of senior students. She said, “We lead the way by developing a project in interpreting in Turkey. We worked with senior students in order to increase the interpreting performance and model interpreting education. We believe that the findings will play an important role in identifying and implementing the methods of interpreting education. We developed an extensive data base from students ‘translation records in this two year project. Our purpose is to attain the most effective translation education through assessment of the findings. “
