Department of English Translation and Interpreting
Çiğdem Erkal, the translator of The Lord of the Rings, gave a talk titled “The Adventure of Literary Translation”, as part of the Topics in Translation and Interpreting (ETI 446) course.
Çiğdem Erkal, the translator of The Lord of the Rings, gave a talk titled “The Adventure of Literary Translation” on April 5, as part of the Topics in Translation and Interpreting (ETI 446) course.
As the first Turkish translator transferring Tolkien’s fictitious language and concepts into Turkish, Erkal underlined the similarities between being a writer and a translator. Erkal gave advice, based on her personal experience, to the students who are interested in literary translation and then answered the participants’ questions.
